Are You Paying Too Much For Insurance?
The State of Arizona requires every driver to carry mandatory auto insurance. Unfortunately the State of Arizona only requires $15,000 on Bodily Injury and $10,000 on Property Damage. This requirement has not been increased in many years and remains woefully low.
Consider Bodily Injury, for example. A person injured in a minor accident could possibly have $15,000 in medical and rehabilitive costs and lost income. What about someone severely injured? Or hit a pedestrian or a child on a bicycle? Or what if you kill someone in an at-fault accident?
It is also amazing that the State of Arizona allows Property Damage coverage to be at $10,000. If you hit a typical car - take a Honda Accord, for example, you are liable for damages to that vehicle over and above the ten grand. A brand new Accord could cost $17,000, leaving you personally responsible for the difference ($7,000). What about luxury vehicles or SUV's that cost upwards of $50,000 or more. Your auto insurance company will quickly pay the ten thousand and gladly walk away. In the meantime, you will be sued personally. Your assets and income may come under fire as a result of having coverage that is way too low.
The difference in premium to increase your BI and PD to higher levels is much more affordable than you might imagine.
